Thy Rod  &  Thy Staff

2 Tim 3:16-17 states: "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

Now after reading the passage above, I was reminded of the rod, that a shepherd used, when it came to fighting off would be attackers, in regards to the sheepfold that the shepherd was protecting. And actually, the very same tool, would also be used, when it came to reining in the wandering sheep that would gradually make their way away from the sheepfold as well.

For you see, I believe that the same holds true for God's children of today.

For we claim to know the voice of Jesus Christ; therefore admitting that the Word of God is indeed true. 

Well, I hold true to the notion, that the Word of God, also act likes that very same rod and staff, that the Good Shepherd uses, when he watches and protects his sheepfold.

For when we stray away from the voice of Christ; I like to think that His rod and staff will make our crocked paths straight. And not only this, our lofty and prideful behavior, will eventually be brought back into a state of humbleness. Know that all of this takes place, so that we may be reined back into the sheepfold of Christ; so that we may be reminded, about the importance of learning how to be in accordance to God's will.

For you see, anytime you make the decision to stand for Jesus; to spread the good news of the gospel; know that there are would be attackers, who are waiting to shift you like wheat. But the God that we serve, shows us nothing but love, mercy and grace. For He has sent His only begotten Son, Jesus the Good Shepherd, to watch over us. And make no mistake, His rod and staff, will comfort the faithful followers that have been brought into His eternal covenant. His rod and staff, will fight off the fiery darts of the enemy. His rod and staff, will guard us against all those, who have decided to come against us, and the God that we love and serve - Amen.
