The Anointing of Jehu
Israel's Commander to become Israel's New King
"This is what the Lord, the God of
Israel says: 'I anoint you king over Israel, the Lord's people. You are
to destroy your master, the house of Ahab; and I will avenge the blood
of my servants the prophets, and the blood of all the Lord's servants
that had been shed by the hands of Jezebel. The whole house of Ahab will
perish. I will cut off from Ahab, every last male in Israel, both slave
or free.'"

Short Recap
In the last article, the Sacred Record revealed the type of fallout that had
happened, when it came to Jehoram's rebellious behavior against God.
Not only would the Southern kingdom of Judah, lose the Edomites as their
allies, when it came to Jehoram's actions; but they would also lose the very important, heavily fortified,
priestly city that was known as Libnah. And just when you thought things
couldn't get worse for the Southern kingdom, the Sacred Record
reveals a prophecy from Elijah. But this wouldn't be your run-of-the-mill prophecy. For the Sacred Record reveals that this prophecy had been written, before Elijah had departed from this world:
Thank you for visiting and for your support; and supporting our advertisers. Thank you for being such a blessing to this site:
I pray that the favor of God Almighty, will forever be upon you.
"This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: 'You have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat, or of Asa, king of Judah.
"But you have walked in the ways of the kings of Israel; and you have led Judah, and the people of Jerusalem, to prostitute themselves, just as the house of Ahab did.
"You have also murdered your own brothers; as well as members of your father's house... men who were better than you.
"So now the Lord is about to strike your people, your sons, your wives and everything that is yours, with a heavy blow.
"You yourself, will be very ill, with a lingering disease of the bowels. This will continue to happen, until the disease causes your bowels to come out." -- 2 Chronicles 21:12-15
Understand that this goes to show, that even though the Judean king tried his best, when it came to him going against the Lord, the Almighty still wouldn't let this king's wicked behavior (or as a matter of fact, any other king that reigned after him) to come between the promise that the Lord had made, back in the days of David: "Nevertheless, because of the covenant that the Lord had made with David... He wasn't willing to destroy the house of David. For the Lord had promised to maintain a lamp for David, and for his descendants, forever." -- 2 Chronicles 21:7
Nevertheless, as we begin to move forward, it's at this time, we find that the Scared Record points out, after Jehoram had passed, his youngest son Ahaziah, now inherits the throne:
"Ahaziah,
son of Jehoram, began to rule over Judah. This would happen in the
twelfth year of King Joram’s (Jehoram) reign in Israel. King Joram was
the son of Ahab. Ahaziah was 22 years old when he became king; he
reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother was Athaliah, a granddaughter
of King Omri of Israel. He walked in the ways of the house of Ahab, and
did evil in the eyes of the Lord, just as the house of Ahab had done
before him; for he was related by marriage, to Ahab’s family." -- 2 Kings 8:25-27
Notice how the passage also points out, how Ahaziah, the youngest son
of Jehoram (the Southern Kingdom of Judah) and Athaliah (Ahab's daughter
of the Northern Kingdom of Israel) not only was he the new king of
Judah, but he too, decided to follow in the steps of his father, and
mother, by doing evil in the eyes of the Lord.

Ahaziah Joins Forces With Jehoram
Be that as it may, Ahaziah wastes no time, showing his support for Ahab's youngest son Jehoram. He does this by joining forces with the Israel king, when it came to his ongoing battle, with Hazael the king of the Arameanians. Now this battle had taken place at the city of Ramoth-gilead. But things wouldn't go as smoothly as Jehoram, and Ahaziah would have liked. For we now find, that while the battle was going on, Jehoram is seriously wounded. And after this had happened, the Israel king then heads to the city of Jezreel, so he can heal from his wounds.
NOTE:
At this point in time, it's believed that Ahab had built a great ivory
palace at the city of Jezreel. It's very well possible that Jehoram was
trying to recover from his wounds, at that very same palace.
Nevertheless, Jehoram's wounds must have been extremely life threatening, for we now find at this point in time, shortly after Ahaziah had went to Jezreel, so that he could check on Jehoram. That he too knew, that the Israel king was seriously wounded. He also knew that Jehoram was trying to recover from the wounds that he had suffered, while fighting the Arameanians.

Elisha Sends a Message to Jehu
However in the meantime, while all of this was going with Jehoram, we
find that prophet Elisha, summons one of his student prophets for a
mission, that he wanted him to carry out:
"Tuck your cloak into your belt, and take this flask of oil with you,
and go to Ramoth-gilead. Now when you get there, look for Jehu; and when
you find him, go and get him away from his companions, and take him
into an inner room. And after you have done this, take the flask, and
pour the oil on his head and declare: 'This is what the Lord says: "I
anoint you king over Israel."' Then open the door and run; don't delay!" -- 2 Kings 9:1-3
So the young prophet did as he was told, and he went to Ramoth-gilead to meet with Jehu. When he'd arrived, he found an army of officers sitting together. As he approached the group, he began to say out loud: "I have a message for the commander!" Now after hearing this, Jehu responded by asking: "For which of us do you have a message for?" And after hearing this, the prophet answered: "For you, commander." So Jehu gets up, and goes into the house with the young prophet.

Jehu I Anoint You King!
Now when they'd entered the house, the young prophet took his flask, and poured oil on the top of Jehu's head, while declaring:
"This
is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: 'I anoint you king over
Israel, the Lord's people. You are to destroy your master, the house of
Ahab; and I will avenge the blood of my servants the prophets, and the
blood of all the Lord's servants that had been shed by the hands of
Jezebel. The whole house of Ahab will perish. I will cut off from Ahab,
every last male in Israel, both slave or free. I will make the house of
Ahab, like the house of Jeroboam, for he was the son of Nebat; and like
the house of Baasha, for he was the son of Ahijah. And as for Jezebel,
dogs will devour her on the plot of ground that Jezreel sits on, and no
one would bury her remains.'" -- 2 Kings 9:6-10
Now after saying these things, the young prophet opens the door, and quickly runs away.

Two Prophecy Confirmations
Now when it comes to this prophecy that the young prophet
had told Jehu, keep in mind, this prophecy is basically a confirmation of
the previous prophecy that Elijah had personally told Ahab, back when he was still
alive:
"I have found you,
and because you have sold yourself to do evil in the eyes of the Lord; I
am going to bring disaster upon you. I will consume your descendants,
and cut off from Ahab every last male in Israel -- slave or free. I will
make your house like that of Jeroboam, son of Nebat; and that of
Baasha, son of Ahijah; because you have provoked me to anger and have
caused Israel to sin. And also concerning Jezebel, the Lord says: 'Dogs
will devour Jezebel by the wall of Jezreel. Dogs will eat those
belonging to Ahab who die in the city, and the birds of the air, will
feed on those who die in the country." -- 1 Kings 21:21-24
Now
I also want to point out, that from within the same prophecy, the young
prophet had also told Jehu (which was another prophecy confirmation. Remember, this was the prophecy that God had given Elijah, back when the
prophet was discouraged. Remember God had to reach out and encourage Elijah when it came to the prophets ministry and calling. And the Lord did this while Elijah was hiding
inside the Mountain of God. "Go
back the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you get
there, anoint Hazael king over Aram. Also, anoint Jehu son of Nimshi
king over Israel, and anoint Elisha son of Shaphat from Abel Meholah to
succeed you as prophet." -- 1 Kings 19:15-16
Now
not only did the young prophet confirm this prophecy, but he also
fulfilled part of it, when he anointed Jehu the new king of Israel.

Hooray! Jehu is the New King of Israel!
Nonetheless, after the young prophet had did what he was instructed to do, (even when it came to running away, after he had anointed the new king of Israel) Jehu came out from inside the house. And after he had did this, one of his fellow officers asked him: "Is everything alright? Why did this madman come to you?" And after hearing this, Jehu responded by saying: "You know the man, and the sort of things he says."
However, the men weren't buying Jehu's response. So they
press their commander even more: "That's not true, tell us!" So after
hearing this, Jehu replied: "Here is what he told me: 'This is what the
Lord says: I anoint you king over Israel.'"
Now after Jehu's men
had heard this, they immediately gathered up their cloaks. Next, they
would spread those very same cloaks onto the floor for Jehu to walk on,
as they blew their trumpets, shouting: "Jehu is king!"

All Three Phases Are Now Completed
Now that Jehu has been anointed the new king of Israel.
It's at this time, I want to point out, that all three phases have now been completed.
Now the main stage is finally set, when it comes to the judgment season that
the Lord had laid out to Elijah, when it came to Israel, and its rebellious behavior.
Phase One Completed:
After prophet Elijah had been taken by the Lord, his protege Elisha,
was promoted from being an apprentice, to now being Elijah's master
prophet successor.
Phase Two Completed:
Ben-Hadad has been removed from his throne as being king of Aram
(Syria). And just like the Lord had promised Elijah, Hazael has now
taken the throne to the Syrian Empire.
Phase Three Completed: And now we've just learned that Jehu has now been officially anointed the new king of Israel, by a young prophet that prophet Elisha had sent.

In The Next Upcoming Article :
Now we've just learned that Jehu had been anointed the new king of Israel. But there was still one problem... Jehoram the current king of Israel don't know. As a matter of fact, as far as he is concerned, he still the king of Israel. Nevertheless, Jehu begins his campaign to take over the Israel throne officially. In the next article, we'll learn how he does this.
May God blessings be upon you, and thank you for your support
